The Benefits And Downsides To Liposome Manufacturing

By Katina Brady

When it comes to the diseases that a person can experience, there is a long list. And it is composed of different kinds. There are those that are common while some are very rare. Fortunately, most of these diseases can be cured. But sadly, there are also others that still has no cure and the worst part, these are the ones that are really deadly.

In the hope of finding a cure, doctors are still relentless in their pursuit. There are times that they succeed in developing new methods, but most instances they fail. Some of the methods are not as affective as the others but the good thing is that it still works. For instance, the usage of liposome to transport drugs for a specific sickness to a specific destination in the body. The liposome is an organic carrrier that is made of the same elements as the cell membrane. There are many people who encourage liposome manufacturing because the effects can be life changing.

The target of the treatment are the more fatal conditions. It is being tested on cancer and diabetic people. The only thing that is being debated is the fact that there was not enough research to perfect the method. And because of this, there are still downsides to the process along with the many benefits that it can provide the patient and the medical world.

One of the good traits of the method is that it has increased the efficacy of the drug. This means that the capacity of the drug to heal was increased because it is enclosed in the liposome. Many researchers also think that the solution for the stability issue of the medication would be to encapsulate it.

Because it is made from a material that is also found in the body, it is non toxic which means that it safe for consumption. It is also flexible with lesser chance of the agent breaking apart scattering the drug. It is being used for both systemic and non systemic medical administrations.

When you suffer from more serious conditions, the medication tend to increase so is the dosage. And the drugs being used are very powerful that it can also harm other parts of the body. But when it is inside the liposome, you are helping protect the body from the toxics of the drugs. The other organs are shielded from harmful substances especially if they are sensitive.

There are many advantages and the method shows good potential. However, it is not perfect. And this should be acknowledged as well. One of the more notable disadvantages would be the hard solubility of the substance in capsule form. The effect would have to occur later because it does not dissolve easily.

It is true that the toxic can be decreased significantly. But there are also instances when leakages happen. It is still not considered as the perfect means to carry drugs. There are more times when it was not able to reach the destination and broke apart along the way.

Not all of the encapsulated liposome have achieved the stable state. There are only very few. And you have to take note that the production cost of this treatment is very high. This would mean that you would have to pay more if you want to undergo the treatment.
