In order to keep blood moving through your veins, try physical exercise. Simple leg exercises and muscle toning can help to improve muscles. Try to avoid standing for long periods; also avoid sitting for long periods of time, and try to not cross your legs. If possible, try to keep your legs raised above your hear in order to increase the flow of blood. In general, make changes to your lifestyle, such as eating healthy. If you are overweight, losing weight can also help your health.

Try to avoid tight clothing, especially around your legs and thighs, as they can be bad for varicose veins. Loose clothing allows your body to breathe, and will not intensify your varicose veins. Choosing low-heeled shoes over high heals can help to tone calf muscles.

Compression stockings are another good option for clothing. They give your legs a gently pressure, offering more pressure than support pantyhose. You will need to be fitted specially for compression stockings. You can find them at medical supplies stores, or at pharmacies.

Some people who have varicose veins choose to have procedures to improve how their veins look. Although treatment can aid existing varicose veins heal easier, it is not meant to stop new varicose veins from forming. Talk to your doctor to find the best options of treatment for you.
