Tips For License Applicants With The Atlanta Dds

By Ruthie Livingston

Applying for or renewing a drivers license can sometimes be hectic. However, that should not be the case if you know what is required of you. Most people are disappointed because they go to the offices ready to apply for a license, and they have not understood the requirements. To avoid such a situation, ensure that you understand the requirements of the Atlanta dds.

Most local departments do not provide all the services provided at the headquarters. Their services are tailored to meet the needs of the locals, and hence, if you require something that is not required by most locals, you may have to travel to the main offices. The good news, though, is that you may be allowed to make personal appointments.

Know the amount required for your application or renewal. The charge is occasionally updated, so it is advisable to confirm. You should also confirm whether you are allowed to pay through other methods other than cash. In most cases, you can pay through credit or debit cards, too.

A number of documents are also required. New applicants are required to fill and surrender the DDS-1 form to the department. This form can be downloaded online. It should be signed and certified by the school administration. A parent or guardian should also sign one affidavit form, depending on the type of training that the applicant has undergone.

You are also required to provide documents of identity. This is normally the birth certificate or a copy if the original is not easily available. Those who have passports may also use them. The need for these documents is to prevent aliens or underage individuals from accessing licenses. One must also have the social security card during the application.

Proof of residency is also among the requirements. If you have lived in this state for a considerable duration, then you should be having a gas, water, or light bill under you name. If not, you can also use a bank statement. This should be able to provide details of your current address.

Be prepared for a road test. As per the requirements of Georgian driving laws, applicants must complete a road test at the department. The license can only be issued to those who have passed the test. It is advisable that one makes an appointment ahead of time with the department to avoid long waits. The vehicle should also comply with the state laws.

Timing is also key. If you are not careful, you may take a lot of time at the department. Avoid the early opening hours, unless you want to be the first to be served. Days before and after holidays and end moths are also not ideal.

There are cases where an individual uses a name other than the one in the birth certificate. In that case, all that is needed is a court document authorizing the change of names. Otherwise, this is normally a very simple process.
